I love surprises!
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: Veronica Mars

Ok, so I had a FANTASTIC birthday.  But first, let me tell you about the week before.  I got a package from my mom on Wednesday and one from a family friend on Thusday.  It was quite a challenge not to open them when I got them but I waited because I knew what a boring day I had planned.

And now the good part...

I was just planning my usual movies and cross-stitch Saturday but it was far from ordinary.  My mom called me around 8:30 (I was already up, actually) to wish me the usual.  She asked if I was already up for the day.  I said yes and she told me to go to my front door.  When I opened the door, there was my Bubba!  We spent the day on a mini road trip and movies (I have a thing for movies lately - see the entry on Blockbuster).  It was super.

I also got phone calls from several friends - Sketch, it was an extra treat to hear from you.  I'm sorry I missed your call.

Today I got a call from my 2Lt Other Bubba in Germany.

*sighs* Back to the work grind...

Last Week
Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: the a/c and only one fan

Ok, so the title doesn't mean that I want to talk about my previous week.  Actuall, this is my 'last week' being 28.  I know, it's silly to mention.  But in my family we have this thing where we celebrate and look forward so something changing by saying "this is the last time _____ as a ___ year old".  And, to me, 29 is just as big a deal as 30.  This will be my last year to be a twenty-something.  I swear, I can see 30 from where I sit right now.  *shivers*  But, hey, turning another year older is better than the alternative.

I'd also like to mention the whole no-salt thing I've got going on.  I'm behaving myself fairly well.  I allow myself a treat once on Wednesdays (because I go with C to a Bible study where food is provided) and once on the weekend (because it's the weekend, duh).  And, my cooking has been inspired.  Since I can't fall back on my usual garlic pepper flavoring habbit I've had to find other ways to make eggs not taste like eggs.  It's been fun.

Oh, yeah, and I'm on the job hunt again because I got fussed at for something I wasn't even at work for and we were never told to do.

P.S. Thank you, Mel, for being the first person to wish me a happy birthday for my 29th!

Medical Adventures
Mood:  hungry
Now Playing: Stargate SG-1 theme song (in my head)

Ok, so, I'm gonna dive right in...  I recently had my first trip to the ER not being the comfort person. Some of you know how much I don't like 'the doctor' and how much I avoid medicine so you can imagine it was semi-serious.  I'd been sick to my stomach for a couple days and noticed an unplesnt symptom and was convinced by my mom and a nurse to go to the ER. It turned out to be pretty minor but the doctor was concerned about my blood pressure.  I guess I wasn't too surprised since both my parents are on meds for theirs.  The doc actually gave me three perscriptions (only one of which I filled).  I've talked with a regular doctor and my mom about it and I'm going to try to fix it by changing my diet and losing some weight. I've always been anti-meds so hopefully this will be a good motivaion. I really think God let me get sick enough and scared enough to get help so he could give me some external motivation to get healthier. The hard part so far is having to totally change what I eat.  And it isn't just 'eating better'.  There are lots of things I used to think were just fine (like cheese, lunch meat, and pickles) that I need to avoid now.  The good news is that I think I'll be able to adapt.  My mom and my friend C have been very helpful with cooking suggestions.  Anyway, I'll have to keep you posted as this is a long term thing.  On a lighter note: I did get a picture of my first IV which I hope to post soon.  It was really cool.

Pretty much everything else is blah.  I have business cards, which is cool.  I'd love to send you one if you email me your address.  I have very little boy drama these days.  There is really only one boy in my life and we're good friends but that's it.  Unfortunately, because he is the only boy, my mind is kinda stuck.  Feel free to toss any spare boys you have my direction.

Speaking of tossing my direction... how about tossing freezer pictures?

Blockbuster Online is Awesome!
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: a/c unit, two fans, and the voices in my head

So I've seen 6 DVD's in about two weeks and more are on the way.  They come right to my mail box, it's the coolest thing ever!  Well, maybe not ever... but it is really stinkin' cool.  I'm catching up on my Stargate SG-1 and will probably get into Atlantis.

In other (fairly non-significant) news... I'm getting business cards at work.  Yet another reason they won't be happy with me when I leave.  But, first, I'll have to find somewhere to leave to, er, go to.  I guess you could say I'm half-heartedly looking.

In not so good news my cell phone is punking out on me.  The screen quit and it doesn't always ring.  It is quite annoying.  I can get the company to send me another one, which is good.  But I'm losing all my pictures and, most importantly, the recording of one of my favorite songs from the Third Day concert.  I'm quite sad.

Today's been cool, though.  Two people that I hadn't talked to in months messaged me out of the blue.  I was nice to catch up a bit and have something different to talk about.

Don't forget those freezer pictures, people!

Freezer Page Added
Mood:  cheeky
Now Playing: the a/c, two fans, and my turtle

The link for Other Bubba's freezer page is now available.  I don't have very many pictures yet but I wanted to go ahead and get it posted so that the people who have sent me a picture can see what they have helped build.

Seriously, people, how sad do I have to get before you'll send me pictures? *pouts*
